OTTER BLOOPERS
Try to watch this video without laughing, it can’t be done. I know it gets kinda long, but puppet bloopers are funny.
ELECTION COMMENTARY
Here is a transcript of my commentary about the election from 7am on today’s show. Audio file up soon.
Bert: I am just curious because we are going to try to be as ‘fair and balanced’ as we can today. So you are listening to all these calls come in. And you are not Barack Obama supporter, so what are your thoughts this morning?
Me: I think it is great that we have a black man as the president of the country … I think it means we have come a long way. I just wish the black man we elected was qualified for the job.
Bert: I think to speak for a lot people that I mean, a lot of people that feel that way.
Me: I think he was elected because of George Bush and because of his speaking ability, but I do not think he is as honorable as everybody makes him out to be. I do not think that he is as truthful as everyone makes him out to be. I do not think he is smart as everyone makes him out to be. I hope I am wrong. I will certainly – I do not want to say hop on the bandwagon because that makes it seem frivolous – but I will certainly become a Barack Obama supporter. I do agree that this country needs to change, I do not think that he is the man to do it.
I am scared to death that democrats have full control of our government: the House, the Senate and the Presidency.
I want to be as happy as all of you are, but to be honest with you, I am scared. It think that the votes for Barack Obama were votes to a good communicator, against the current administration, and I do not think we put the right man in the office. And I am really bummed because, like last night, I experienced history and I felt proud. I went to bed last night proud of our country. I am glad that it was not a squeaker, I am glad that it was far enough. I think we have proven that race is becoming a dwindling issue in this country with every year that passes.
I am inspired by that. I went to bed last night inspired. I woke up this morning and it all kind of started flooding back to me. My vote for John McCain was never necessarily a vote for John McCain. It was a vote against Barack Obama. I do not think he has the experience or the qualifications or the resume to lead this country and I think if you voted for Barack Obama, quite honestly, I think you were fooled.
Bert: Only time will tell.
Hobby: Do you think that this thing of last night’s decision were aware on for you for awhile or do you feel like it is just a raw wound right now that will be able to heal in a short amount of time?
Me: I do not even think it is a wound.
Hobby: Because I think a lot of McCain supporters feel wounded today and crushed even.
Me: I do not feel wounded and I do not feel crushed. I feel … it is confusing. All right, I told you few weeks ago that when people find out that you are a McCain supporter, like there are some people who take liberties with that and are like, “Oh, yea, we are not going to have a black man, it is the White House for a reason” and they think you are racist and they think you are prejudiced and that is why you are voting for John McCain. That is certainly not the case with me. If John McCain was a black man, and he was running against a white Barack Obama with the same qualifications, I would have supported John McCain. It had nothing to do with race for me, it had to do with qualifications and who I think is best fit to lead the country. So the first comments that I got last night on Facebook were very negative to Barack Obama based on race.
And I completely disagree with that. It is not a wound to me. I do not feel hurt, I feel — I do not want to sound condescending — but I almost feel sorry for people who voted for Barack Obama.
Bert: That sounds condescending.
Me: I know, but I think there is a level of bait and switch. I think there is a level of falling for it. I truly, in my heart, do not believe he is able to lead this country and I feel — I have thoughts. I believe now, that being said, what Melissa said, about him using the word gay in his acceptance speech—
Melissa: Even the disabled too, that is new.
Jeff: And putting that out there, I think there are some people who voted for him for 1000% the right reason. I think there are other people who went to Barack Obama because he is the cool new restaurant in town and they want to be seen there and I think there are some people who went for Barack Obama because that is what everyone else is doing.
Melissa: I think Jeff represents a lot of people though. I mean we could debate but there are is no reason debating because it is just about … I mean I think that is absolutely how a lot of people feel. Like you said … unfortunately his message from Facebook there are people that feel and have worse opinions than – I mean and Jeff’s is not a bad opinion. You know what I mean, like there are people like—
Jeff: Right, there are people who are making the decision.
Melissa: Right.
Jeff: What I am saying is I am not making the decision based on race. There are a lot of people who do. So all of that that I just said though about Barack Obama I could turnaround and apply. Like, if you voted for John McCain because he is the white guy, then you voted for the wrong reason, you know what I am saying? So I am only having this conversation in this direction because Senator Obama won – President Elect Obama won – and Senator McCain lost. If the situation was reversed, I would be saying the same thing to McCain’s. If you cast your vote based on the fact that John McCain is white, you voted for the wrong reason.
I DON’T HAVE GAS…
Just in case anyone is wondering, as of right now (Sunday afternoon, the 21st of September) there is virtually no gas to be found in Sandy Springs.
I learned this the hard way, as I am presently in line at the Chevron Station off 285 waiting my turn to fill up. I have been here for about 30 minutes now and (luckily) I am two cars away from being allowed to take the golden nectar from their one open pump. Hopefully, they don’t run out before it’s my turn.

ALRIGHT, APPLE FREAKS
You won … at least for the next 14 days. I just left Perimeter Mall and the Apple store, where Daniel sold me a new 16-gig iPhone.
I didn’t want to get one … I love my Blackberry. But, I was in a meeting today with Tracey and Trey and Joel and they all whipped out their iPhones and I whipped out my Blackberry and I have to admit that I felt inferior and I didn’t like it.
So, Apple has a 14-day return policy. If I don’t like the phone, I’ll take it back. I’m gonna try it. I will carry the iPhone for the next two weeks and give it a shot.
I would love any thoughts / comments / experiences …

DEAR BULLDOG NATION
Congratulations! You have been voted Number One by a few people who know things about College football before a player even runs on the field. That’s pretty impressive. Unfortunately, it means you have nowhere to go but down. If you finish number one, it’s what was expected; if you finish anything but number one, you let everyone down.
So the pressure is on, and I wish you the best of luck.
I’m not sure if I should talk to somebody currently at UGA or perhaps someone with the Alumni Association … although I don’t think that’s appropriate because I think the biggest offenders aren’t even UGA alumni .. but I have a complaint before the season even starts: Obnoxious, in your face, Bulldog fans.
I’m not a huge fan of any sport, and I never have been. I don’t know the players from years gone by. I don’t have a team that I cheer hardcore for, I’ll cheer for whatever team I am watching in whatever town I am in. So I’m prepared to cheer for the Georgia Bulldogs.
I even hope to go to Athens this year and tailgate, drink beer and eat barbecue starting at ten in the morning and end at one the next morning. That’s what it’s all about, right? (Oh and go to the football game, of course, in between all of that.) But what I don’t need to be subjected to is the overwhelming, non-game day, obnoxious bragging and overbearing noise from the ‘nation.’ And I know it will only get worse as the team racks up the wins.
An example: I was recently at a restaurant with someone wearing a University of South Carolina t-shirt. He was wearing this shirt for no particular reason. He’s not an alumni and doesn’t have any friends or family at USC. He was visiting from Boston and probably bought the shirt as a souvenir. So we were at the restaurant and across the dining room the bartender YELLS in our direction ‘YOU READY FOR SEPTEMBER 13?’ So we were all like ‘who us?’ and he was all like ‘WOOFWOOFWOOFWOOFWOOF!’
So then I saw the shirt and realized that September 13 was a Saturday and put it all together and gave the bartender a little wave and made a mental note to come back in a few weeks with a dozen friends all wearing Florida or Tennessee gear. And then the bartender opened a bottle of beer with his teeth and tongue kissed his sister and kinda went up her shirt.
I realize football is different in the South, but I mean really, people. I’ve actually not cheered for Georgia to win because I used to work with a guy who was so obnoxious about the Dawgs that I wanted relief from his madness.
So, I hope the Bulldogs end the season undefeated and number one in the nation. And I want to cheer for them the whole way, but I won’t unless you fans (and you know who you are) remain somewhat civil for the next few months. Please … help me help you.
And Lets Go Dawgs!

A PLACE FOR FRIENDS
I’m on Facebook, right here. Can we be friends and whatnot?
Bert is now on Facebook (he’s addicted, don’t let him kid you.) Melissa and Wendy, too. Jessica Shops is ramping up her Facebook, and A-bomb, Johnny O., and Brittany all are on board. They are friends of mine and you can find them through my friends.
HI! DO YOU REMEMBER ME? OR SHOULD I REWIND?
Hi Internet,
I’m still here. I’m sorry for leaving you. Will you take me back?
Jeff
Some pictures. Enjoy

The new Suntrust section at Turner Field does not suck at all. Here’s Jessica, and BEHIND her is President Jimmy Carter. We were in front of the President. I even felt guilty about that for a second, but then I learned it was all-you-can-eat / all-you-can-drink, so then I was OK with it.

Because of the rising costs of gas, we have had to train Sasha to hunt for us. On the menu tonight? Goose.

My Dad is now touring with Pat Benatar.

Dad and Mom. Wristbands still on from the rave the night before.

Jess and I went Denver for 4th of July, and saw Collective Soul play Red Rocks. If you ever have the opportunity to see a show there, DO IT. Great venue, and great energy. This shot was taken from about halfway up the seats, and that is Denver in the background.
